Chris and Jim will be talking with us about Chromebooks. What exactly is a Chromebook. who are these machines designed for what are the newest models capable of why you might consider using them.
Chromebooks were first sold and shipped in 2011. Early designs offered very limited features and some initial reviews were unfavorable. The education market was first to see potential in these machines and became the early adopter of the technology. Schools began using sets of Chromebooks as mobile computer rooms and a few issued a Chromebook to every student. By 2018, Chromebooks made up 60% of computers used in schools. This year, many more schools are issuing a Chromebook to each student so they can attend class from home.
Chromebooks have matured a great deal in the past few years, offering features previously available only on laptops and desktops. They are a smart choice for frequent travelers and vacationers. They offer freedom from Windows updates and worries about malware. Chromebooks are easy to use for videoconferencing and watching videos.
Have you begun to notice that most of what you do with a computer is online (thru a browser)? Then you might want to consider a Chromebook.
